I'm a biologist. In my research I combine computational and experimental approaches. My current research interests are related to genetics and embryonic development. On the genetics side, we studied the interplay between genotype and adaptation.
I further study the robustness of C. elegans embryogenesis. The embryonic development of the nematode is fascinating because of its reproducibility and complexity, despite lightning fast development. The worm embryo opens the possibility to studying how cells coordinate themselves, and how the generated forces help shape cellular constellations. On the one side we are developing tools to analyze the embryo computationally, and analyze systematic imaging of the embryo. On the other side we try to characterize development by genetic screens and optogenetic perturbations.
